(The Moment We Encounter True Happiness)

You cannot become happy, you can only be happy, here and now.
The happiness we find in experience is known only in the brief moments when our mind is free from oppositionto what is, and due to impermanence soon turns to suffering. When the mind is silent the illusion of duality dissolves back into awareness and our natural state of joy shines without obstruction. Any opposition is a product of thought and isinseparable from the eternal joy of awareness.

I recently read his books "Life is Eternal Newness" and "The Wonderous Journey: Into the Depth of our Being" and loved them. His background is really encouraging, as I imagine he dealt with very challenging hardships with what was happening in his home town at that time. Also, he never travelled outside Romania, so we can all "tap in" wherever we are and whatever his circumstances. So glad a volunteer discovered his writings, as it took me many years to do so.

I try to stay in the moment and smile without holding on to a memory in the past or craving for something in the future. It is challenging to do, harder than I had thought initially. However, when it works, I can feel the stillness, even if momentarily.

When I am in that space and not in my thinking mind, I can relate to the idea of happiness, as explained in this article.

In the meantime, I remind myself to find reasons to smile no matter what the circumstance. It connects me to that tranquil peace and happiness and abundance from inside.

I often dismiss with my mantra when outside and simply listen as I let my mind empty. It has become easier in my 70th year.

Truly resonate with ilie Cioara.
My experience of nothingness or emptiness is in the moment of pause, which is the momentbetween the in-breathand the out-breath, is that moment of absolute bliss. The bliss is us, within us, at every moment of our breath. This moment is the experience of "Unity with the Universe". The experience of "Unity is Divinty", the one-ness with the Divine!

Wow, what an essay -- as I read, it began to be a meditation as I very much resonated with what IlieCioara wrote. To me, the closest I get to true happiness is when I get to my Source which is one with the Source. I've had brief experiences of exquisite happiness when I get past my body and mind, past my thinking, and get to my Source which is my essence or soul that is me and the Source. What helps me avoid the mistake of searching for Happiness with the thinking mind is my learning and knowing that thinking gets me to local, temporal ego and maybe in the direction of the Source, but not to my nonlocal eternal Source and Happiness. Thinking isn't enough. Thinking is in time and space, and Happiness is an experience beyond time and space.

We all have a deep longing for Happiness. It is the Sacred within us. It is an egoless Presence with no time and space boundaries. It is Universal. It is Within us. It is Divinity within us. It is Pure Consciousness. It is Holy. I feel the presence of Happiness when my thinking mind is quiet. I feel the presence of Happiness when I let go of searching for Happiness. It is always within us like pure love, clear light, complete silence. I experience such Happiness when I am fully present with myselfor with others; when I am fully absorbed in what I am doing. These are the times when I in the Flow of Happiness. Daily practice of Mindfulness Meditation, serving others selflessly, loving others kindly and unconditionally helps me. I am not against thinking mind. I need to think to solve the problems when I encounter them. I use my mind to make wise choices. I am thinking when I am responding to these questions. I am happy to reflect on this wonderful reading close to my heart. Namaste! Ja... View full comment
