How Can You Live In This World And Yet Be Innocent?

Innocence, to me, is remaining open no matter the external circumstance.

Why do we lose so much of this quality after childhood? In my experience, it’s pain/ adversity/ trauma that causes us to become discerning and move toward self protection.

How can we again become open even after such experiences in life? To be unharmed and unbothered by adversities.

I believe it’s by recognizing who and what I truly am… then I’m not harmed if what’s reflected to me isn’t That. I also think it’s a grace.

As in, I could physically defend myself from harm and still remain open/ loving as I do so.

What do you think?

Living innocently to me means living naturally. As a human being, we are elite species on this earth and we have tremendous potential to make the world a much better place for all other life in this universe. Humans instead have forgotten about their purpose for existence and living in an accumulation mode without realizing what they are really living for. Last few years for mehave been a time of inner change facilitated by my meditation and connecting with inner self. Today I don't see any need for covering myself with any mask. Leading a simple life and find ways to help as many less fortunate people as possible seems to me is the way forward to lead a happy and peaceful life. Thank you Awakin circle members for helping me progress along this way through your reflections.

"we are elite species on this earth and we have tremendous potential to make the world a much better place for all other life in this universe."

If I don't get it wrong, guys like Jiddu trying to say; that thought above creates the most trouble.

Living in gratitude is being innocent. It's a catalyst for shedding ego, naturally invoking our child-like spirit and be humble to realize our dependency on others and the existence, thereby requesting any help with ease.

I am wondering if this post is for males only.

I appreciate and respect everyone's sentiments HOWEVER, the exclusive language is troublesome.

If you would like to understand my position please try this: settle-in, close your eyes and have someone read to you Krishnamurti's words using FEMALE pronouns only (that is if you are male).

I was asked to do the same with the reader using male pronouns. I was forever changed.

Exclusive language is not acceptable in a society that seeks equality.

Thank you for your understanding.

Thank you for sharing these sentiments. Some adjustments were made to this piece (in parenthesis), but I didn't get to all of the places that could have been done. This would have been easy to do, and I wasn't being diligent. You will see this piece adjusted now.

I minimizedmy requirements to live a innosent routine. It took time and I prepared my mind to avoid conflict with close relatives friends and contacts for shake of my share of facilities. Now they are offering me what I compromised and let go my share of things. A wonderful experience of innosence routine. I went through many ups and down, finally I succeed. Meditation, yoga , food style and exercise breathing practices helped me a lot. Thanks my spiritual guides.
thanks all, who helped me to reach this stage of innosence.

Being innocent literally means to cause no harm. Sometimes I am innocent, such as when I am speaking from what I am experiencing, including to say what I see, imagine, fantasize, assume, feel, and/or think, speaking caringly, honestly, directly, and openly, and speaking goallessly, that is, not trying to manipulate or make any particular outcome happen. When so doing, I am confident I am causing no harm -- occasionally the other may feel upset in some way, but that's not my causing harm. What helps me be a human of innocence when I am one is knowing it is the right way to be, trusting the value and benefit of it, and knowing the satisfaction that comes from it.

What does being innocent mean to you? Just living.
Can you share a personal story of a time you really lived by being innocent? If I try to share a personal story then living is no more that would destroythe living. I have to explain an apparent story in words that is my mind created story in sequential time in subject-object relation. JK has said "Don't try to get it. It is not the word." It is a mutation of mind (Me) or individuality based on past experiences.
What helps you be a human of innocence? When "Me" is not there than living only happens it is functioning of that energy or consciousness. Energy doesn't need any help.

Being innocent means being true to oneself, being authentic, with no pretensions, no masks and no conflicts. Being innocent means revealing our original face with no facade. When we live innocently. it not only creates a fundamental change or transformation in the individual but also in the society at large. The person living innocently becomes a potent nucleus for social revolution. Such a person becomes a dynamic agent of transformation. Living innocently requires awakeningand vigilant awareness of the clouds of fear arising in our mind and heart. I was blessedto have my father who displayed courage to stay firmly on the path of being true to himself. He became the role model not only for us but also for the society he lived in. The other great model for my individual transformation and the transformation of the country was MahatmaGandhi. Both, my biological father and the father of the nation, have had a positive strong impact on my transformation As I have mentioned before,remainin... View full comment
