MIRA A TU ALREDEDOR CON ASOMBRO
--por David Griswold

Mira a tu alrededor, mira a tu alrededor,
Mira a tu alrededor con asombro,
Traza arriba la nube atronadora
Que alimenta el río de abajo.
Mira arriba y mira abajo
Y mira por fin dentro,
Verás un río corriendo allí.
Y cuando lo hagas, salta dentro.

Ve como brota la planta del semillero,
Ve el árbol que se dobla,
Sigue viendo a través de los años
Cómo nada termina nunca.
Mira al halcón y mira al gato
Y mira a la presa que acechan,
Observa al bebé que estira el brazo
Y poco a poco aprende a caminar.

Mira tus manos y mira tus pies
Y mira tu rostro cambiante,
Velo en el cristal de un río
que nunca está en el mismo lugar.
Mira las montañas subir lentamente
Y hundirse hacia el mar,
Mira tu pecho subir y bajar
En perfecta armonía.

Mira a tu alrededor, mira a tu alrededor,
Mira a tu alrededor con asombro,
Traza arriba la nube atronadora
Que alimenta el río de abajo.
Mira arriba y mira abajo

The river running within, to me, is a river of joy, love and compassion..jumping in is getting back into, becoming one with the spirit, who we truly are. Gratitude for the generosity of the beautiful web of life, helps me look around in wonder and awe at every single element of nature I encounter. What a precious precious gift it is to be alive on this beautiful planet and witnessing life in myriad forms! My heart fills with warmth and gratitude again and again!

I relate to the notion of river running within is nurturing and discovering our purpose and evolve our soul, grow it. Watch the world being present in the moment as a ' drishta' , watching it unfold as we ourselves unfold our journey. Loving and living each moment with gratitude. Personal experience would be when i invest time & energies in meditation and it grows my love without boundaries for one & all. I feel unconfined and anyone who comes to me feels nurtured. This all changes if I don't flow with my river within, as then i get agitated ,disturbed. Thus, sitting with myself and staying connected to the inner river ,the very source is the food for my soul. That keeps me positive and helps me see the beautiful world around me in wonder. Especially discovering this beautiful community of ' awaken circle' has made my inner rivers flow smoother as found so many like minded people. Beautiful poem this is. Thanks for sharing.

We have a popular saying in Spanish : “Wonder is the Mother of Wisdom”. But the problem is that most people seem to be motherless, orphaned, having been robbed (in schools and homes) of their natural childlike sense of wonder!

Mediation and silence lets us dive deep and observe, the breath , the sensations, the feelings, the thoughts. I think that's what is the river (of thoughts) . Observing within gets us to the habit of even observing deeply outside

The river within is also the river without. There is one river, and everything is part of the one river which is the source of all. There are times that I jump into the river within. For example, in relating to someone I have jumped into the river within, jumped into what I am experiencing and related from it, simply being present in it and from it as I am with and relating to the person with me, having no agenda, not knowing where I or the current would go. Jumping into the river within in that way has always been positively magical. My having had a glimpse of the river that we are all of helps me look around in wonder.

Beautiful encouragement to practice awareness until we jump into the river within, and become the wonder missing nothing...

I love to read and re-read this beautiful poem Look Around In Wonder by Davis Griswold. It's a song of Wonderment, a song of Wow. The Wow experiences are happening in the Outside Natural World as well as in the Inside World, the world of the Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual dimensions. Both worlds offer gifts of surprise, wonderment and inspiration. It's a dynamic world with its own rhyme and rythm. The follwing four lines of the peom touch my heart and inspire me to live a life of wonderment: Look above and look below And look at last within. You'll see a river there, And when you do, jump in. The inner river is the river of delightful surprises, amazement, and fulfillmemt. I have been blessed to have such wow moments when I am in the midst of nature deeply enjoying the wonderful Divine creation and in the company of loving and caring people. It happens when I am walking on the spiritual path, receiving and offering gifts of unconditional love. Wonderment happens when I do... View full comment
