First Do No Harm: A Humanitarian's Journey to Greater Wholeness and Contribution
Chris Hoffman, a lifelong humanitarian working in crises in dozens of countries, stepped away from field work after two decades. He realized that he and humanitarians often do more harm than good - largely because they themselves are "not well" from the trauma they already hold and what they experience in their crisis-filled jobs. So he began to support the sector to be more effective and innovative - first via contemplative resilience offerings for humanitarians (mindfulness and somatic practices), and now as Managing Director of Humanity Link, a firm that links innovative companies with humanitarian agencies to develop effective technology to flip the paradigm so humanitarian programming can be more client-driven. He helps offer tools and systems that transform how humanitarian organizations interact with people in need - moving from service delivery to genuine partnership.
