Our Awakin Call Speaker, Polly Letofsky walked the world.
What a journey trekking more than 14,000 miles at three miles per hour.
How did it all start?
Polly was 12 years old when she heard of a man walking all over the world. She had a dream, a goal then to walk across the world, to discover the world.
What was the trigger?
Initiative to fight breast cancer… the need, the passion was always there. It got a nice cause.
Where and how did Polly found support while walking the world?
Two sources –
One- Support of people, strangers on the road became great strength and foundation for her.
Two- Her own faith, trust and intuition – listened to it, let that be a guiding light.
"When times became tough, it never occurred to me to fly home. What is ahead? What do I need? ... re-evaluate, re-structure and reach out..."
"Most of the people want to help. They just don't know how. Simply ask for help."
“You learn so much from people when you have a dinner together with them on the same table. It is a completely different experience."
What keeps her still walking?
Walking is a therapy.
"Walk through Connect - we walk in the neighborhood, it's a 5 mile creek walk every week. We finish with a meal together. We impress upon people this isn't about work out. It's about walking together, chatting, breaking a bread together and discovering your neighborhood.
How inspiring to see Polly following through on voice from inside, and then using her journey of walking to develop stronger community and neighborhood!
Polly's one-liner message to the world left a lasting impression on me...
"Trust the journey."
