Mark Manson's piece starts off unfortunately with a a misleading statement. Conscious awareness happens in the spiritual sector of our body-mind-spirit being. Mental awareness and ego are in the mind. It is when we move in our meditation from mindful to conscious awareness that we get out of the I/me ego trap.
