Innocence, to me, is remaining open no matter the external circumstance.
Why do we lose so much of this quality after childhood? In my experience, it’s pain/ adversity/ trauma that causes us to become discerning and move toward self protection.
How can we again become open even after such experiences in life? To be unharmed and unbothered by adversities.
I believe it’s by recognizing who and what I truly am… then I’m not harmed if what’s reflected to me isn’t That. I also think it’s a grace.
As in, I could physically defend myself from harm and still remain open/ loving as I do so.
What do you think?
