Speaker B: And actually, the reason I sold my company 2 years ago after running it for 25 years and never thinking of selling it is because I didn't build a company to sell it and make money. That was not my intention. My intention was to enjoy life doing something I loved. And I really enjoyed it, creating a great people-centric culture.

We became the best place to work in Spain 2 years in a row. Happiness was at the center of our purpose. Creating happy workplaces was our main reason to exist as a company beyond the business purpose of our company. So we had 2 purposes.

The business purpose, which provided the fuel to run our existential purpose, the reason beyond business why our company existed in terms of service to humanity, which was creating happy workplaces. And this symbiosis between the 2 purposes created an incredible virtuous circle, which one thing fed into another. And being people-centric helped enormously the business, and being a successful business generated the funds to create a happy workplace, right? So that worked very well.

It was not for many, it was not intuitive. For me, it was intuitive. It was counter-manual, if you want, because that's the opposite of what they tell us in business school that you should be doing. And it's funny, but I think that was the key to our success.

But I never wanted to sell my company. And in fact, it came to a point that I realized I needed to let go of that, not wanting to sell it because that was becoming also part of my ego, wanting to create a successful company in that way. And I was not even realizing that as much fun as I was having running the company, there was a higher purpose that was driving me in another direction, and my company was becoming too small of a vehicle to support that higher purpose. And that's why I sold it 2 years ago.

And passion, again, is what explains that decision. My passion, which was driven by that interest in understanding the nature of consciousness, and especially understanding how, from that understanding of the nature of reality, the nature of consciousness, we could actually transform the world, transform our socioeconomic system. That's the passion that was leading me into the direction of selling my company and doing something that would be more powerful.
