It is indeed a challenge to observe unconditional and uniform respect/love towards self as well as towards others. The key reason being our minds have been made so evaluative that we are constantly evaluating people including ourselves and tend to act on those evaluation. More we evaluate and act, more we move away from the state of meditation, state of calm and state of peace. Hence, it requires us to spend more time conversing with our soul and find the true meaning of life and its purpose. The day we realise that we are an inseparable part of the greater soul and God, We will find our true position in this universe with a much greater meaning.
Each one has his own potential and we lose this but looking around and mimicking others. Sometimes out of our own laziness or out of mere fear of standing out different or fear of loss on experimentation. Its insights that help us and so does some outside poke. In absence of an outside poke, the key is to give yourself sufficient time to know yourself and potential and the dare to experiment. Enjoy life, find what you love and do one's best without falling in the trap of comparison.
