For me, wonder means being fully present in the moment and appreciating it as it unfolds. Life moves so quickly that I often find myself thinking about the past—what happened yesterday or years ago—as well as the future and all the years that may still lie ahead. At the same time, there is the present moment, something as simple as enjoying the dessert I am eating right now.
One of my good friends once told me not to dwell too much on the past or worry too much about the future, but instead to focus on the present moment. I cannot change the past, fix it, or go back to it. As for the future, I cannot predict what it will bring.
Whenever my mind begins to wander, I gently remind myself to return to the present moment, to stay as focused as I can, and to appreciate what I have right now. In doing so, I find a sense of peace, gratitude, and wonder in everyday life.
