Syd,thanks for sharing. You very well formulate what a lot of people experience.  I recently read a quote:'We are spiritual beings having a human experience...', and that brought a deeper understanding along of my own life and the lives of people around me.  I receive Carol Carnes' daily message, and she really brings light. Go well, Syd!

Art is a Life Raft, by George S. Clinton

One day many years ago I exited the building where I was working at the time, and stood waiting to cross the street and hurry to some meeting. There was a lot of traffic and I was watching the cars pass. Then, from one car, came the sound of a soprano voice singing some hauntingly beautiful aria. At that moment, the world fell away, everything fell away and it was a moment of pure, pure bliss and heaven. It pulled me from the street pavement and made me wake up fully in those few moments. The day was completely changed..... Grateful, grateful for art and beauty.

Maybe  it means loving without claiming, without owning. The closest I come to that is with my pets. I see them ageing, becoming weaker, and realize I cannot keep them alive for ever. So it means loving them maximally but being ready to help them leave when time clearly has arrived for them to go...

Kindness: The First Gift, by John O'Donohue

Maybe this has to do with what we believe the universe's attitude towards us - is it friendly or hostile? I think it was Einstein who said this, and somehow that remark of his stays with me. If we believe it to be a friendly, kind-ness universe, then this is how we will experience it. The opposite also applies. It is true that ever so often we experience unkindness in the universe. However, Verdi had one of his opera characters sing:"Love is the heartbeat of the universe...." If we would be seeing God in everything, in everything, we would maybe start understanding the level of love, goodwill and kindness embracing us. Whether we allow and acknowledge it, is a different question.
