Waking up to Wisdom
In Stillness and Community

Awakin Dubai

"Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has." --Margaret Mead

Every second Saturday of the month, a few of us come together to sit in silence for an hour, share some aha-moments for the second hour and often have a light meal afterwards. There no teachers, or agendas. Inspired by a family who has done this for more than decade every week, Awakin Circles are just a space to come together and share in a context of stillness, community and service.

To attend the next circle, simply register in the right column and you'll be emailed all the details. There is no charge and no one is expected to bring anything but their lovely presence. The afternoon's format is as follows:

12:00PM An hour of collective silence; its unguided, without any instructions or music. For first-timers, this primer on meditation may be helpful.
1:00PM A short reading, followed by a circle of sharing of "aha" moments from everyday life.
2:00PM A vegatarian meal, offered in silence. Those who stay afterwards are invited to offer time for local community projects.

All Awakin Circles are hosted in homes of everyday people. Sandhya Prakash has been hosting them up till now at her beautiful home in Umm Suqeim. If you would like to host one at your place, connect with us and we would be happy to hear about it :)

Other Local Activities: In March 2015, we hosted our first Karma Kitchen to spread the spirit of generosity in and around Dubai. Read more »
