Shamash loves coaching people to live in the present moment in a calm and focused way, leading to greater health and wellbeing. With his lifelong interest and strong background in science (having a Master’s degree in Engineering from Imperial College, London), Shamash loves the way that mindfulness has been proven to work scientifically.

Influenced by the monk Ajahn Brahm, Shamash believes mindfulness at its best leads to greater connection with the world, compassion, and “kindfulness.”   He has written that “a spiritual life isn’t about avoiding things. Spirituality is about facing up to your challenges with gentleness and kindness.”

He is co-founder of the Museum of Happiness, a nonprofit organization in London that provides an experiential adventure, where people of all ages and backgrounds can learn more about the essence of happiness and well-being via kindness, creativity, community and mindfulness.  By using a series of interactive exhibitions, workshops and events, the museum offers science-based techniques that people can implement into their everyday lives.

Five Questions for Shamash

What Makes You Come Alive?
Three projects currently make be come alive. 1. Spreading the concept of Kindfulness in the world. My personal discovery of Kindfulness from my teacher has been self transformational and I love sharing that with others. 2. Helping to grow the Museum of Happiness and hearing stories of homeless folk who discover the power of meditation or discover a caring community. 3. Organising events and retreats that enable people to go deeper and discover awareness compassion and wisdom through our Happier World events for changemakers.

Your Greatest Inspiration?
Most recently was around 4 years ago when I was sick in bed and started listening to a meditation retreat on YouTube and finding myself blissed out and recharged through a totally different kind of meditation than what I was used to doing in the previous 16 years. I'll share the technique and details in the call.

An Act of Kindness You'll Never Forget?
My friends started a Facebook group to encourage my friends to do acts of kindness to celebrate my 40th birthday. It's still happening as my birthday was in late August and so warms my heart!

One Thing On Your Bucket List?
To have a hole at the bottom of my bucket!

One-line Message for the World?
Now is the most important time; the person infront is the most important person in the world; the most important thing to do is...to be kind!
